dear members of the NWG

time is flying: while writing these lines again almost two years have passed since our last conference in Göttingen in 2025. 

We have prepared once more a highly attractive program covering all fields of the Neurosciences encompassing five extraordinary Plenary Lectures, two of which are funded by the Hertie, Schram and Reemtsma Foundations, the Schilling Award Lecture and 30 exciting Research Symposia. As usual this core scientific program will be flanked by satellite symposia, the Breaking News Session and special interest workshops covering a broad range of topics. Along the conference more than 60 companies will showcase their latest products and developments serving our research in the Neurosciences.

This time the conference includes two new symposia types: for the first time we will have a Reemtsma Symposium on Neuroscience and Cancer tightly connected this year’s topic of the Reemtsma Lecture, both funded by the Reemtsma Foundation. This symposium is meant to further foster showcasing of current research in this vibrant field of research. We will also have a new special interest symposium on Animal Research in Neuroscience. Why? We are living in times, when researchers have to answer questions on the necessity of animal research in life sciences. Therefore, together with Tierversuche verstehen we organized a special interest symposium presenting excellent case reports on this contemporary and important topic. Participation in the symposium can be certified for serving qualification programs, e.g. graduate schools, at home universities.

We optimized the timeline of your venue program: our full length meeting program with unrestricted poster sessions and comprehensive discussions will no longer result in our conference invading the following weekend, a long-standing challenge for researchers with family. We will start half a day earlier and finish on Friday afternoon at a time allowing every participant from wherever in Germany to be able to arrive at home Friday evening. In addition, several time slots between the sessions and lectures will be available along the meeting for networking and spontaneous discussions. The Göttingen Meeting 2027 will continue to serve its tradition since more than four decades: to give scientists at all career stages the space they need to learn from the work of their colleagues from all disciplines and to grow through their own presentations in symposia and poster sessions. It is this charming character of the fresh spirit and input of our neuroscience community, which let our meeting never grow old.
